The CLEW Independence is a super-smart hybrid step-in snowboard binding that combines the familiar feel of a traditional binding with an extremely fast step-in/step-out system. You can keep your regular snowboard boots and traditional two-strap feel while eliminating the need to re-ratchet your bindings after every lift.
Once the binding has been adjusted to your boots, you simply step in and click the heel into place. CLEW states an entry time of approximately 1.9 seconds, and releasing the binding is equally quick and convenient. That means less time sitting or kneeling in the snow and more time riding.
One of the biggest advantages of CLEW is that no special snowboard boots are required. The Independence works with regular softboots and combines traditional ankle and toe straps with CLEW's patented step-in mechanism. You therefore retain the familiar control and response of a conventional snowboard binding while gaining the convenience of step-in technology.
The new Independence features a lighter and stronger construction, redesigned straps and 2.5° integrated canting for a more natural stance and efficient power transfer. At approximately 989 g per binding in size M, with a medium-stiff response, it is designed for all-mountain riding across groomers, powder and park.
